Going OUTSIDE not only clears your mind and connects you with nature, it also forces you get off your phone and out from behind your desk.
Here are a few tips I’ve learned along the way that help keep me on track, clear my mind and get me outside when life has me bogged down…
1. Do I NEED to worry about it?
Often times we play out scenarios in our head and think about decisions we don’t actually need to make. It’s OK. LET IT GO. You will feel so much better if you only give thought to the worries and issues that really need it.
2. Is it actually in YOUR control?
Are the worries and woes that get into your head actually things you can control? There’s ice on the ground. The guy that cut you off while driving. The price of organic food. It’s dark before 5pm. If you can’t actually control the things you are worrying about, LET IT GO. Accept the things you don’t have control to change. Or at the very least don’t let them over take over your life.
3. I don’t have TIME to get outside.
Bullshit. If you make getting outside a priority you’ll be basking in nature in no time. You don’t have to start with an epic daring adventure to get you back on track. Go for a walk. Start with a lunch break getaway – you can do it, your boss won’t have a heart attack if you walk across the street to pick up your lunch or stroll around the block. You’ll be surprised how addicting getting outside can be once you start again.
4. I want to go OUTSIDE but I don’t have anyone to go with.
