I've been thinking a lot about what it takes to get ladies out of their comfort zone and on the trails. It seems highly individualistic but with one thing in common…FEAR! Fear that you aren't in shape enough. Fear that you don't have the right gear. Fear that you'll be the slowest of the group. Fear that you'll look like you don't know what you are doing. Fear is a nasty beast that lives in all of us. ALL OF US! Don't let it win. Who cares if you're the last one. You won't be for long if you get out and ride more. Who cares if you don't have the right helmet or shorts or shoes or bike. No one cares what you look like. All we care about is that you're out there and having a good time.
So, with that ladies, who wants to ride? Meet me at the trailhead and let's go! Let's put the fear behind us and get you on the dirt. Let's pedal past our inhibitions and put the rip roaring good times in front of us! Let's Ride Ladies! Let's Ride!"
This was a note I wrote to myself on the back of an envelope a little of a year ago. This was the final piece of motivation I needed to start Outsiety. For years I've been pining over the idea of starting a group for ladies that help us get outside. This blurb of random idea puking was what I needed to get my ass moving. And one year later….Outsiety is a thing. It's actually a thing! I real life group of real life women accomplishing real life goals. In all my life I never thought I would have the confidence or skills to do something like this. So, ladies….THANK YOU! Thank you for showing up and thank you for pushing past your fears. It's not easy to put yourself out there and it's not easy to try something new. I'm so in aww of the ladies I have met over the past year and I can't even begin to express my gratitude.
Here's to the next year and to the rip roaring good times that are in front of us!
